Arlington, VA (December 7, 2005) — Richard J. Martin, President and CEO of Defense Holdings, Incorporated (DHI) was recently named December Executive of the Month by the New York Real Estate Journal.

In a November 29, 2005 cover story, Martin's post- 9/11 efforts to promote and install innovative photoluminescent safety solutions (PSS) in major federal and private sector public buildings were highlighted The article also focused on AfterGlow Technologies, the subsidiary Martin created to promote, market, and install PSS in major U.S. cities.

AfterGlow's product line conforms with NYC's recently-enacted New York Local law 26/04, which details the standards for installing PSS materials "in exit stairwells in hall class E buildings over 75 ft. tall," according to the article. AfterGlow products meet or exceed these Department of Buildings standards. Citing the tragedies of 9/11, Martin also emphasized "the importance of protecting our citizens in the case of such an emergency."

The journal article also noted Martin's vision 'of expanding his company's services throughout the country and beyond," citing plans to offer PSS to cities like Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles, all of which are currently considering the adoption of PSS safety codes similar to those on the books in the Big Apple.

Department of Energy Awards Emergency Signage Contract to DHI

Arlington, VA (September 26, 2005) — The Department of Energy (DOE) announced the award of a competitive contract of $440,000 to Defense Holdings, Incorporated (DHI) For the supply and installation of photoluminescent low level egress path marking (LLEPM)  systems in one of the agency's major office complexes in the DC area. DHI, a Manassas, Virginia company with technical offices in Arlington, is a world leader in the design and implementation of Photoluminescent Safety Solutions (PSS). The company has installed PSS in Federal locations such as the Pentagon, the Washington Navy Yard, and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The company also supplies these materials to the US Department of the Navy.
